How a job works
What we agree to before any work starts, and what happens if the job turns out to be different once we're into it.
Quotes
A quote is an estimate based on what you've told us and what we can see. If the job turns out to be different once we're into it, we stop and call you before doing anything that changes the price. We never carry on into extra work and bill you for it afterwards.
Where a fault has to be diagnosed before it can be priced, we say so up front and tell you what the diagnosis costs.
Travel
There is no call-out fee in the core service area. Outside it there is a flat travel fee set by the first three characters of your postal code, listed in full on the service-area page, and it appears on your quote before you agree to anything. A fuel surcharge is included in the estimate. Urgent or after-hours work outside normal hours carries a $50 emergency fee.
Booking and cancelling
Give us 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move an appointment. Less than that may carry a fee, and repeated short-notice cancellations may mean we can't keep offering you slots. We may move a job ourselves if the weather would make it unsafe or make the repair worse; we'll contact you to rebook instead of turning up and doing it badly.
Parts and warranty
Most parts we supply carry a two-year warranty, and our labour is covered for six months, where the fault is a defect in the part or in the workmanship. Wear, damage, misuse and unrelated faults are not covered.
You may supply your own parts. If you do, the labour rate is higher and the job is not warrantied: if the part is wrong or it fails, the return visit is chargeable.
Paying
e-Transfer, Cash, Credit & debit card. Card payments are subject to a processing fee. Payment is due on completion unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
Where we can and can't work
We work at your home, your workplace, or the side of a residential street, as long as there is room to work safely. We cannot work in underground or enclosed parking, and we cannot work on a highway shoulder. If the car turns out to be somewhere we can't safely work, we'll say so instead of pressing on.
We don't do oil changes, wheel alignments, A/C work, or provincial safety inspections. We do offer pre-purchase inspections, including preparing a car for a safety, but we cannot issue the safety itself.
Access to your vehicle
You don't have to be there. If you leave keys in an agreed place, you're asking us to work on the vehicle unattended, and we'll contact you before we start and again when we're finished.
Trailer rentals
Renting a trailer is a separate agreement with its own terms, its own fee schedule, and its own insurance requirements. You'll read and sign it as part of the booking, and the version you sign is the one that applies to your rental, whatever this page says later.
Liability
We carry insurance for the work we do. We are not responsible for pre-existing faults we did not cause, for consequential losses such as lost time or lost income, or for damage arising from a part you supplied. Nothing here removes any right you have under Ontario consumer protection law.
