Mobile brake repair in Kanata

Pads, rotors, calipers and the lines between them, done on your driveway while the car sits where it already is. We come to you in Kanata, weeknights from 5pm and all day Saturday and Sunday, so the car is fixed without a day off work.

Why people call

What people describe when they ring about this

You do not have to know what the part is called. These are the words people actually use, and any one of them is enough to book on.

  • A grinding or scraping that gets worse the harder you press
  • A squeal at low speed that goes when you brake harder
  • A pedal that goes soft, or one that sinks while you sit at a light
  • The car pulling to one side under braking
  • A shudder through the wheel from about 80 down

Kanata, specifically

What we see on this job in Kanata

Most of the brake work we do in Kanata is on cars that spend forty minutes a day between Terry Fox and the 417. That is stop-start on a straight road, which wears pads evenly and quietly, so the usual first sign here is not a noise at all. It is a measurement, taken while the wheels are off for a changeover. It is worth asking us to measure them at that visit, because on this commute the pads and the rotors tend to reach the end together.

On the truck

What turns up on your driveway

  • Pads and rotors for most common vehicles, carried or collected the same day
  • A press for seized caliper pistons, and the tools for a slider that has rusted in
  • Brake fluid, and the kit to bleed the system properly instead of topping it up
  • Both axles measured and the readings written down, whichever one you called about.

How long it takes. Pads and rotors on one axle is usually an hour and a half to two hours.

What we will not do on a driveway. A brake line that has rusted through along its length, or a master cylinder that has to come out through the bulkhead. Both are shop jobs, and we will tell you in the driveway before we start, so the car is never left in pieces halfway through.

Where the car can be

Parking in Kanata

Kanata is where the truck starts and finishes, so it is the easiest place in the service area to get to on a weeknight. A driveway or a surface visitor space is all we need. The one thing to check is underground parking: a lot of the townhouse and condo blocks around Kanata Lakes and Bridlewood park below ground, and we cannot work down there. Book a visitor space outside and leave the car in it.

Areas we are in most weeks: Kanata North, Kanata Lakes, Bridlewood, Katimavik, Morgan's Grant, Trailwest.

What it costs

Priced after somebody has looked at it

There is no price on this page on purpose. A brake job depends on the vehicle, the parts it takes and what is found once a wheel is off, and a number written here would either be wrong or be something you have to argue about in a driveway.

You get the cost of the work and the travel together, before anything is booked, and nothing is charged until you have said yes. The travel band for every postal code we serve is on the service-area page.

No hidden charges and they provided suggestions for work that was priority now, and work that could wait. I’m so very appreciative of their help and respectful work. I had to reschedule, and they were extremely accommodating!”
