Brakes

Mobile brake repair

Pads, rotors, calipers and the lines between them, done on your driveway while the car sits where it already is.

We come to you across Kanata, Stittsville, Barrhaven, Nepean and the rest of the west end, weeknights from 5pm and all day Saturday and Sunday, so the car is fixed where it already sits.

What it covers

Brakes, in full

Pads, rotors and calipers, which is more of our work than anything else.

  • Brake pads & rotors
  • Brake calipers
  • Steering components
  • Brake diagnostics

Brakes are more of our work than anything else, and it is the job a driveway suits best, because nothing about it needs the car driven anywhere first. Pads, rotors, and a caliper that has seized solid after a winter of salt are all done beside the car with the wheels off, wherever it is already parked. That matters more on this job than on any other: a car whose brakes you have stopped trusting is the last one you want to drive across the city to a booking.

How long it takes. Pads and rotors on one axle is usually an hour and a half to two hours.

Why people call

What people describe when they ring about this

You do not have to know what the part is called. These are the words people actually use, and any one of them is enough to book on.

  • A grinding or scraping that gets worse the harder you press
  • A squeal at low speed that goes when you brake harder
  • A pedal that goes soft, or one that sinks while you sit at a light
  • The car pulling to one side under braking
  • A shudder through the wheel from about 80 down

The one thing we will ask back. Is it grinding, squealing, or a vibration when you brake? Answer that in the first message and you will usually get a price without a second round of questions.

On the truck

What turns up on your driveway

  • Pads and rotors for most common vehicles, carried or collected the same day
  • A press for seized caliper pistons, and the tools for a slider that has rusted in
  • Brake fluid, and the kit to bleed the system properly instead of topping it up
  • Both axles measured and the readings written down, whichever one you called about.

What we will not do on a driveway. A brake line that has rusted through along its length, or a master cylinder that has to come out through the bulkhead. Both are shop jobs, and we will tell you in the driveway before we start, so the car is never left in pieces halfway through.

What it costs

Priced before anybody turns a bolt

There is no price for a brake job on this page on purpose. What it comes to depends on the vehicle, the parts it takes and what is found once a wheel is off, and a figure written here would either be wrong or be something you end up arguing about in a driveway.

You get the cost of the work and the cost of the drive together, before anything is booked, and it does not change once you have said yes.

Whatever we have published is on the pricing page, and the warranty, the emergency call-out and what happens with parts you supply yourself are on the FAQ.

Getting to you

The drive is a set figure

Travel is priced by where you are rather than by the hour, and every postal code and village we cover has its own number against it. Kanata carries none at all, because that is where the truck starts and finishes its day.

A fuel surcharge is added to the estimate to cover the drive to you. You see both numbers, the work and the trip, before you agree to anything.

Look yours up on the service-area page, which carries the whole table and a checker for your own three letters.

“Absolutely Outstanding Service! Nothing but positive things to say! I can’t thank PeakLine Auto enough for their incredible help! My car broke down unexpectedly, after a tow truck was unable to find the problem, we gave them a quick call and they were able to come help me out within the hour! They arrived with a friendly attitude and a fully equipped truck. Not only did they diagnose the problem quickly, but they explained everything clearly and honestly — no upselling, no hidden fees, just genuine professionalism and care. They worked efficiently and explained the every step. They went above and beyond, explaining what next steps had to be taken in order to get my car up and running! All very appreciated and extremely helpful especially for someone who’s a first time car owner. It can be very hard to find someone so trustworthy, skilled, and transparent these days. If you ever find yourself stuck or in need of reliable roadside assistance, don’t think twice about calling PeakLine Auto! They truly go above and beyond. Thank you again for turning what could’ve been a stressful situation into such a positive experience! Five stars all the way — a perfect experience from beginning to end!”

Written up for where you are

Brakes in the three towns that are most of our week

What tends to go wrong on this job around there, and where the car can be parked while we do it.

Where we go

Everywhere else we bring brakes

Each town has its own page with the postal codes that apply there and what the trip costs.

The other three we get called about most: tires & tpms, suspension, diagnostics. Everything else Peakline does is on the services page.

Tell us what the car is and what it's doing, and we'll come back to you with a price. Texting is the quickest way to get hold of us.

Next opening: Monday. If the car has stopped you driving, say so and we'll work around it.

Weeknights from 5pm Saturdays & Sundays from 8am info@peaklineauto.ca

We rent trailers too, from the same driveway. An equipment trailer and an enclosed cargo one.

Or send it over: your number, the car and what it is doing, one question at a time. It takes a minute and we price it from that.
